The Built Through Fire Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides youth with free access to wrestling, strength training, and mentorship. Our goal is simple: give kids a place to show up, work hard, and grow into stronger, more disciplined, and more confident versions of themselves.
-
We don’t just run practices. We build people.
This isn’t about participation trophies or showing up halfway. It’s about effort, consistency, and growth. Kids earn their confidence here, and they carry that with them long after they leave the mat. -
The Forge is what we call our training space. It’s more than a gym. It’s where kids are challenged, supported, and held accountable. It’s a place where effort matters, attitude matters, and everyone is expected to show up for themselves and for each other. **We are currently outgrowing our gym space at Jacobs Elementary and are looking for a new space in that area.
-
We work with kids and teens (K-12) from all backgrounds, with a strong focus on those who may not otherwise have access to structured sports or mentorship. Many of our athletes come from financially challenging situations, but the door is open to anyone willing to put in the work.
-
Nothing. Our program is completely free. We remove financial barriers so every child has the opportunity to train, grow, and be part of a strong community.
-
We’ve built a structured path so kids can grow over time:
· First Flame – entry-level, focused on fundamentals and building confidence
· Trial by Fire – structured training, discipline, and mentorship
· Forged Leaders – leadership development for older athletes
· Rise – support and structure for kids coming out of difficult situations
· She Rises / She Is Savage – girls-only wrestling and training programs focused on strength, confidence, and leadership description
-
Not at all. Many kids walk in having never stepped on a mat before. We meet them where they are and build them up from the ground level.
-
No. Wrestling and training are the tools, not the end goal. What we’re really building is discipline, confidence, emotional control, and resilience. The physical side gets them in the door. The life skills are what stay with them.
-
We provide mentorship, structure, community and a consistent environment where kids feel seen and supported. For many, this becomes a second home. We focus on building relationships, encouraging accountability, and helping them navigate challenges both on and off the mat.
-
We are fully supported by donations, sponsorships, and community partnerships. Every dollar goes toward keeping the doors open, maintaining the space, and making sure kids can continue to train at no cost.
-
You can support the foundation through one-time or recurring donations, sponsoring a program, a child or contributing equipment and resources. Every contribution directly impacts the kids we serve and helps us grow.
-
Yes. Structure, respect, and accountability are non-negotiable here. We set clear expectations and maintain a culture where kids are supported but also held to a high standard in how they treat themselves and others.
-
You can reach out through our website or contact us directly. We’ll walk you through the next steps and help place your child in the right program based on their age and experience.
-
Our coaches and mentors bring real experience in wrestling, training, and working with youth. Just as important, they lead by example. This isn’t just about technique. It’s about consistency, accountability, and showing kids what it looks like to do hard things the right way.
